64 Days

Oh. My. God.

Only 64 days till the Man burns again!

That means - 57 days until I leave for the playa. And I'm SO grossly behind with my preparations. My bike isn't even close to being done yet (I'm still waiting for the little flashing rubber frogs to arrive which will grace the grassy expanse that is my bike frame), I have NO costumes yet (I mean NONE), and the fabulous hat I bought in London a few weeks back still needs to get silk flowers hot-glued to.

As if that wasn't enough, for some insane reason, I've decided to redesign my shower this year, and also make shade panels out of canvas for my camp - which will constitute my first foray into tie-dieing, as the white canvas simply is too blah for the Burn... (any tips, anybody?)

Sticking to the "Green Man" theme this year, I also got me some astro-turf to help keep the dust down in camp. But of course you can't just slap the turf on the ground. No no. You have to gromet the crap out of the borders so you can actually tie the stuff down with camping spikes and won't have to chase it across the playa during the inevitably furious dust storm. I'm also thinking about hot-gluing some silk flowers to the turf as funky decor. Yes, hot glue is my friend.

I've purchased some very cool solar string lights from eBay, as I refuse to pollute the playa with the smell and sound of a generator to have light in camp. But of course they're coming in from freaking Hong Kong, so I'll be sitting here, tapping my fingers impatiently, hoping and praying they will make it to me before I take off.

Then there's all the fun colorful blinky glowing stuff I've been drooling over and can't decide what and if I should purchase. So for my own back-up brain purposes, as well as a service to every other Burner reading this, here is a list of resources:

Glowsource.com
Coolightwest.com
Littlebrightlights.com
Glowinc.com (for glow paint)
Hokeyspokes.com

And holy crap - I SO want these for my bike. What a great birthday gift that would make! hint... hint...

I'm exhausted just looking at this to-do list ...
