NMI: Parity Check Error
This page is dedicated to collecting error
reports, resources, and individual solutions
for the blue screen "NMI: Parity Check/Memory Parity Error"
messages many Windows users are experiencing.
The image below, courtesy of Shaun J., shows what the error
looks like:
Back in February of 2002, after I had struggled
with this error completely shutting down my
Windows XP system numerous times, I wrote
an article about it and posted it in my blog.
The response from people with the same exact
problem (and no solution in sight) was considerable.
Since then, there has been a steady stream of
emails trickling in, all citing the problem that
there is little to no useful information to be
found on the Web about the error - despite its
dramatic impact on the usability of one's
computer system.
I've posted a few updates since
(here
and
here) and even enlisted
my old friend (and now Microsoft Evangelist) Robert
Scoble in the quest to squeeze usable information
from Microsoft. As of this writing, September 24, 2003,
there has been
a response from a Microsoft engineer,
just not what I had hoped for. And so the quest
continues.
Below is a collection of links to online resources,
error reports, and suggested solutions (some of them
even proven). Readers wanting to contribute their
experiences for the greater good, please send
email
to me, and I will add their reports to this site.
